Boat trip to the Aquaculture Center in Vesterålen - an adventure center for Norwegian aquaculture located in the small village Blokken. Bring warm and waterproof clothes and shoes. On the boat trip, you need to have your camera ready! Vesterålen offer great wildlife and nature, so you never know when a good photo opportunity arises. Hot beverages will be served on board.
This trip provides a unique insight in Norwegian aquaculture in one of Norway’s most beautiful regions. Norway is the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon, and every day around 14 million people around the world enjoy Norwegian salmon. At the center you will experience the process from salmon roe to salmon fillet.
A professional and enthusiastic guide give you a tour of the center. At the center you can explore exhibits about the history of aquaculture industry in Norway, from the pioneer era in the 50’s to today’s high-tech operations. There are also exciting activities for children, movies, underwater camera and a 12-meter long map in glass showing aquaculture expansion in Northern Norway.
Lunch will be served at the center. Per tradition, the menu is a simple and delicate cold smoked salmon, with garnish and bread (if allergic/dislike the dish, please inform us before departure).
After the tour you get to go on a boat to visit a real fish farm with salmon and trout. Here you will learn about the Norwegian way of fish farming and why Lofoten and Vesterålen is one of the world’s greatest locations for fish farming. You get to meet those who work with the fish every day and see with underwater camera into the nets. 1390,-
